~From America's Test Kitchen Healthy Family Cookbook
- 2 t. oil
- 6 oz. mushrooms*
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1 garlic clove, minced (or slightly more...)
- 1 t. chili powder
- 12-oz. ground turkey (not turkey breast)
- 8-oz. tomato sauce
- 1/4 c. water
- 1/4 c. ketchup
- 1 T. Worcestershire sauce
- 1 t. brown sugar
- 1 t. cider vinegar
- salt and pepper as needed
- 4 whole wheat hamburger buns
- Heat oil in large skillet over medium heat. When shimmering, add mushrooms and onions. Saute for about 6 minutes, or until soft.
- Add garlic and chili powder. Cook for 30 seconds, until fragrant.
- Add turkey and cook, breaking up with a wooden spoon, until no pink remains.
- Add remaining ingredients (except buns!) and simmer for about 5 minutes, until slightly thickened.
- Serve over toasted buns.
