We eat a lot of oatmeal around here. Everyone enjoys it. But to break up the potential monotony, we have a few varieties we like. One is the
apple oatmeal already on this site. My father-in-law makes oatmeal like this and it reminds me of an oatmeal raisin cookie. I make it like the version below, but I can't remember if he adds raisins in while it's cooking or after.
- oats (1/2 c. per person)
- water (2x the amount of oats)
- cinnamon
- brown sugar
- raisins
- vanilla (optional; I go back and forth on this)
- Make oatmeal per package directions, adding in generous sprinkling of cinnamon, nice spoonful of brown sugar, handful of raisins, and 1/2 t. or so of vanilla.
- Ta da! Simple and yummy.
