Cape Cod Oatmeal Cookies

From The Fannie Farmer Cookbook, 13th edition

  • 1 1/2 c. flour
  • 1/2 t. baking soda
  • 1 t. cinnamon
  • 1/2 t. salt
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. melted butter
  • 1 T. molasses or sorghum
  • 1/4 c. milk
  • 1 3/4 c. oats, uncooked
  • 1/2 c. raisins, optional
  • 1/2 c. chopped nuts, optional
  • 1/2 c. chocolate chips, optional
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Mix flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt together. Add remaining ingredients and stir well.
  3. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto unbuttered cookie sheets and bake until edges are brown, 10-15 minutes (depends on size of cookie).
