I'm sure, if you're hosting Christmas Day festivities, that you've given at least preliminary thought to your big dinner menu. I know I have! I want it to be delicious and memorable, of course, but also kid-friendly, relatively easy to prepare, and unstressful; that's a tall order, isn't it! I decided to go with some things we really enjoy but which are too rich for our everyday menus and/or just plain favorites. My husband's family does fondue--the oil kind--every Christmas Eve. With three young children, we decided to go with cheese fondue. I can buy most of the ingredients in this next week, hopefully saving myself some last minute stress. * indicate recipes that can be made ahead of time. I'll post the remaining recipes when I can. Here's our plan (our Christmas morning menu is something we've done a few years now and we love it):
Christmas Eve:- Smoky Cheddar Fondue with little smokies, bread cubes, steamed broccoli, apples
- Chocolate Fondue with shortbread*, apples, marshmallows, bananas
Breakfast:Scones* with lemon curd
Scotch eggs
Winter fruit cup*
Dinner:Supper:

I'm doing a fondue dinner for Christmas. I already brought a new fondue set (Christmas motif, of course!) and table runner to go with it. I'm quite excited already, this year, my in-laws will be spending Holidays with us. My four kids are thrilled about it. They already made me promise that they'll bake Granny and Grandad some butter cookies, lol!
