Chocolate Pie

I'm not a huge pie fan, but I'm a complete sucker for chocolate pie. Our pastor's wife made this for our family and it's amazing.

  • 1/3 c. cocoa
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/3 c. flour
  • 2 c. milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 t. vanilla
  • 1 T. butter
  • pinch salt
  • 1 (9-inch) baked pie crust
  • whipped cream
  1. Mix cocoa, sugar, and flour together. Put mixture into medium-sized saucepan. Add milk, stirring slowly to mix.
  2. In a separate container, beat eggs slightly, then whisk into saucepan mixture. Heat over medium heat.
  3. **Stir this mixture once it gets warm to keep it from sticking and burning on the bottom.**
  4. Add vanilla, butter, and a pinch of salt. Cook and stir until thick and bubbly.
  5. Pour into baked pie crust.
  6. Cool on counter or refrigerator before serving.
  7. Garnish with whipped cream.
~Makes 1 9-inch pie
